- Carolina Parent Magazine (available free at many locations in the Triangle) frequently has ads for nanny services.

Day Care
- Search for child care facilities on the NC Division of Child Development's website. Find child care by geographic area, facility type, and ratings. Be sure to explore their Resources list!
- Child Care Services Association is a local nonprofit agency that can help you find affordable child care. They have an office for Durham county: call 919-403-6950.
- What is a Star Rated License? Read about the requirements. Note: starting in 2006 the "Compliance History" component will no longer be used to determine the number of stars, although it will still be important for maintaining a license.
- www.ncchildcare.net (NC Division of Child Development) has a wealth of information on finding high-quality, affordable day care. Click on "PARENTS". ALso be sure to check out their Additional Resources page.
- Duke Human Resources has a very informative database.
Drop-off Child Care
- There have been drop-off ("stay-and-play") child care centers in Raleigh and Cary for a while; now they're finally (slowly) coming to Durham. For those times when you can't find a sitter...
- Jasper's Place is in the Brier Creek area north of RDU airport.
- Right Time Kids was open briefly at Patterson Place (near Home Depot on 15/501) but has since closed. They have locations elsewhere in the Triangle.
- Both PlaySpace Children's Museum in Raleigh has evening "Parents' Night Out" programs for preschool-age and up. Certain YMCA branches may also have programs. See our Destinations page for contact info.
- Some gyms and YMCAs provide child care while you exercise.
